Who we are
Ominira Initiative for Economic Advancement is an independent non-profit think tank with a mission to research and advance solutions to Africa’s socioeconomic issues. We execute our mission through strategic engagements, publications, online videos, info-graphics, and events.
Our vision is a free and prosperous African society of responsible individuals, with respect for human and property rights.
What we do
We research and advocate ideas and policy solutions to enlarge freedom and prosperity in Africa.
Our activities include:
- Promoting economic and individual freedom, good governance and entrepreneurship through videos and documentaries on OminiraTV.
- Advancing solutions to contemporary African issues through periodical publications.
- Research on socio-economic affairs and the effects of government policies.
- Events such as conferences and forums aimed at advancing freedom and good governance.
About the Competition
Ominira Initiative for Economic Advancement with the support of the Initiative for African Trade and Prosperity (IATP) welcome submissions to our first undergraduate essay writing competition on the topic “Entrepreneurship and Democracy as Catalysts for a Prosperous Nigeria.”
Open to undergraduate students in Nigerian higher institutions, this writing competition seeks to promote the understanding of entrepreneurship and democracy among young Nigerians who make up over half of the country’s population and to prepare them to be agents of positive change.
Benefits
- 1st position – N120,000
- 2nd position – N100,000
- 3rd position – N80,000
- Consolation prizes for 4th and 5th positions.
Requirements
- An undergraduate in any Nigerian Higher Institution.
- Must not be more than 30 years of age.

- Essay must be maximum of 800 words count.
- Submissions must be in pdf format (New Times Roman, font size 12, double line spacing, Justified Alignment).
- AI generated contents or plagiarism is not allowed. All entries must not have been previously published online or in print.
- Multiple entries will be disqualified.
